The more denial these adds create, the more pressure it provides on getting weapons during intermission

It always died to residual AoE like starfall and multidotting. I don’t think there was a single time doing this boss that I actually felt the need to target this mob. Raging Embers have extremely low HP and move far too slow. You can basically ignore that mechanic entirely because you’ll never see it stack enough to punish you before the intermission removes it Hardened Gold being removed by the Magma Shield AoE feels odd from a gameplay perspective. Perhaps this is because there isn’t enough ground denial, but this sort of feels like a pointless mechanic since you’ll break the shield in 2-4 weapons which takes almost no time. Magma Shield is an odd mechanic, having you skip around the room and grab items from the corners of the room to break a shield and get a damage amp. Overall, I was not a fan of this boss basically at all. This would prevent the DPS from just stacking for the mechanic and then making the cross of swirls that stem outward completely irrelevant.Īt the very least, it needs to do AoE around the impact target so that only the target can cheese the outward cross of swirls.
#Starfall com all about me series
Very similar to Doctor Ickus’ series of leaps in Plaguefall. It feels like it would be a bit more of a WoW-y mechanic if it targeted you, then after a delay it “threw” the weapon and it would impact at the chosen location a few seconds later and erupt outward. Similarly, the target can also just stand still, which is a bit odd. It seems like you can cheese Volcanic Axe by just having every DPS stack, as it doesn’t do damage in an AoE around the person who is chosen as the target of Volcanic Axe. It’s a little bit dull, but mostly due to my concern below. The chain mechanic is basically the only notable thing going on.

Only concern is that there really isn’t a lot going on here. My only suggestion would be to somehow make it so you can’t trip the boss if he’s not moving, maybe only applicable during Blade Lock or something of that sort? It’s a bit odd that you can drag the chain through the boss (without him moving) and it will still “trip” him and apply Fetter. Interesting niche mechanic with the chains and damage amps are (almost) always fun. If it’s not intended as the above archetype, it’s probably missing a simple mechanic or interaction. I imagine this fight will be quite a bit clencher in high M+ due to how hard Magma Eruption can hit, and also the unavoidable nature of Lava Spray. Seemed like a pretty cool boss for a short-and-sweet high dtps type of boss, if that was its intention. I’ve done both dungeons several times and on multiple ranged DPS specs.

Perspective from doing both Normal and the newer Heroic queues (though not much changes between the two difficulties).
